Wexford job creators and investors want a Yes vote - Connick
Wexford Fianna Fáil TD, Seán Connick, has called on the voters of Wexford to remember that local job creators and local investors believe it is important we vote Yes in the Lisbon Treaty Referendum on Friday as they make up their minds on how to vote in the coming days.
Deputy Connick, speaking after a new survey of Irish CEOs, revealed that they overwhelmingly believe that passing the Lisbon Treaty is very important to getting Ireland on the road to economic recovery. The survey conducted by IBEC shows that 91% of CEOS from all parts of the country believe that a Yes vote is important or very important for the recovery of Irish businesses. 74% also believe that a strong relationship with Europe is important for jobs in their region. "I think these statistics prove what most people already know, that we need to vote in favour of the Lisbon Treaty to help improve the economic situation in Wexford," said Deputy Connick. "Local jobs creators and investors know this and that is why most are looking for a Yes vote. The fact is that Europe has been extremely important for bringing investment and jobs to this country and to Wexford. If we now send the sign that our relationship with Europe is cooling then I’m sure we’ll see a similar freeze in multinational investment coming to our shores." "Local job creators can clearly recognise this and they recognise how much is at stake for this country. A Yes to Lisbon is a Yes for local jobs and investment. Any other result will only harm our reputation and that will have long term implications for our economy and more importantly for local jobs throughout Wexford," added Deputy Connick.
