CONNICK CALLS FOR EXTENSION OF FAS OFFICE OPENING HOURS IN NEW ROSS
Sean Connick TD has called on FAS to extend the opening hours of its office in New Ross. Deputy Connick has said that the services FAS provide have never been more needed but that the opening hours of their office in New Ross mean that they cannot provide an adequate service to local people. According to Deputy Connick “Many people who are now seeking help from FAS are unemployed for the first time in their lives. This is a new experience for them and they are unsure who to turn to for advice on retraining, applying for new jobs and on their entitlements. The staff in the local FAS office are only able to assist a limited number of people due to their restricted opening hours. I have written to the new Director General of FAS informing him of the need to extend the opening hours of their office in New Ross. In the current climate, FAS and all similar agencies should be providing the best possible service to local people in need of their assistance. The staff in the New Ross FAS office are limited in terms of the service they can provide due to the short opening hours of their office. I have asked the Director General of FAS to immediately review this situation and to extend these hours.”
