Good news for Wexford farmers as balancing payments commence - Connick
There is good news this week for farmers in Wexford as balancing payments under the Single Farm Payment have commenced, according to local Fianna Fáil TD and Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Sean Connick.
“Local farmers started to receive funds from the Single Farm Payment in September, the earliest ever commencement of payments and now the remaining part of that grant will be issued.”
“There have been some difficulties for a select number of farmers regarding the digitisation of mapping but the Department of Agriculture worked as quickly as possible to resolve outstanding issues so as not to impede payments.”
“In addition to this payments under the Disadvantaged Areas Scheme are continuing to issue on a twice-weekly basis.”
“I am happy to see that the Minister for Agriculture, Brendan Smith TD has re-iterated his determination to further maximise payments to farmers and use every resource to ensure that any outstanding issues with the digitisation of maps are resolved.”
“These funds are essential for local farmers and I am pleased that they are receiving the funds well in advance of Christmas which will help with their cashflow,” concluded Minister Connick.
