To ensure that the New Ross by-pass will be on schedule to commence in 2011. The N25 through New Ross is a key commercial and tourist route to the South East. Improving this route is part of the Government's National Development Plan to achieve sustainable economic growth.
Linking the Rhu Glen with a proposed new bridge over the River Barrow near the Pink Rock. Llinking The Pink Rock to Stokestown will be the longest in Ireland at 900 metres.
Rising 40 metres above the river, the new four-lane bridge is to be a combination of a traditional and cable-stay suspension type. It will incorporate a 25-metre tower at its centre and will link up with the New Ross Bypass connecting the N25 and N30.
The bypass will remove through-traffic from New Ross leaving a pleasant environment for residents, commuters and tourists and will encourage the growth of the town. A bypass will lead to safer conditions for drivers and pedestrians in the town and will improve local access. A bypass will result in a quicker and more predictable journey for both local and through traffic.
