Wexford Farmers’ Markets awarded Good Practice Standard
Three Wexford Farmers’ Markets awarded Good Practice Standard – Connick
Three Farmers’ Markets in Wexford have been awarded the Good Practice Standard according to local Fianna Fail TD, Sean Connick.
"Enniscorthy Farmers’ Market, Gorey Farmers’ Market and Wexford Town Farmers’ Market have been awarded the Good Practice Standard."
"The Good Practice Standard compels markets to stock a substantial amount of local produce, ideally 50%, from Wexford or a neighbouring county. The Standard also compels markets to accommodate season and local garden and allotment produce as well as compliance with food safety and labelling rules and criteria on good governance."
"Farmers’ Markets in Wexford provide the opportunity for local producers to sell their goods directly to local people."
"The Government is committed to supporting Farmers’ Markets and this system of awarding Good Practice Standard to qualifying markets encourages consumers who can be assured of good quality local produce."
"I would like to congratulate those who run the Enniscorthy, Gorey and Wexford Town Markets and all of the stall holders who have worked so hard to achieve these Good Practice Standards and wish them every success in the future."
